it's very hot in here now. I'm afraid to turn the heat down though.
only a few days until school begins again.
I really havent had the down time this break to miss school yet. Our house has been full of guests since exams. now, a few days of isolation to prepare myself.
Roxanne's visit made me think about cleveland in ways more solid than i have in a long time. all this leads to misty emotions, missing my home city.
i wonder if chicago will satiate my cleveland nostalgia.

which winter, long ago, did we live in a home whose heater made it all the way through the season without malfunctioning?
before he left, the maintenance man gave instructions to leave the heat on high until it cuts off, because after that, it won't come on again. how fatalistic.
my back is achey from sleeping on the hide a bed two nights in a row. fuzzy and i went camping in the living room.
time to take the christmas tree down i reckon.
who's left here? i guess ill have to make new friends.

last night i went to this.
"the night they drove the dixies down"
the blind mule is a good place. i felt uncomfortable in the bar when there wasnt a band playing, but they have a very nice courtyard with a fountain so i relaxed there.
sweaty fun for the week was watching the dixies.

last night was potluck movie night.

cucumber yogurt sauce
corn casserole
peas and dumplings
cookie cake
brownies
blueberry cobbler
chips and salsa
hummus and pita
broccoli and spinach casserole
baklava
lots of wine
there were too many people. strangers bringing strangers and not to be eaten.
horror movie about bugs.
guitars and singing in the kitchen.
someone drank our secret wine stash.
base gave kenny a horrible drunk haircut.
i played spades with joe.
nik has been giving me really great hugs lately.

i am 22 years old.
my profile still says 17.
im leaving it that way.
not because i wish i was still 17 and not because i still feel 17,
although sometimes both those things are true, just because i like remembering how this all started. remembering also how it felt 5 years ago.

on the weekends there are always people.
they come to our house on sunday nights. they drink wine and watch movies.
this is something that i like.
on saturday nights i go downtown and see people i know at the bar. i wait for fuzzy to get off work and i feel comfortable. sometimes there is a show or a party in hillsdale. sometimes we just stay at the bar or go to waffle house.
on mondays there is always someone up for that mexican food.
many sundays we go to the beach.
so full of people.

i AM a redneck now.
sunburn. i am tan everywhere despite excessive amounts of sunscreen. well, everywhere except for the back of my neck which is burned.
i have a new job. i am a steward of mobile.
i walk around downtown mobile and pick up trash. also i report graffiti, look out for unsafe situations, smile, and give lots of people directions.
the pay is good by mobile standards. after taxes im making close to as much as i was at dupli.
fuzzy works for the same company. she makes two dollars an hour more than me but basically all she does is give people directions.
more work. less money. the life of a grunt.
but i like it a lot because i get to walk around downtown all day. and it really isnt hard at all once you get used to the walking.
also. i find a lot of neat stuff. gypsybo!
